Just a quick note to say that I’m not back on my regular schedule, yet. I got an idea for a story, so I put it up. If I find that more ideas start coming, I might start accumulating a batch and restart my old schedule. For now, enjoy this new story, as well as the archives.
After more than a week without any stories, I’ve come to the conclusion that I wasn’t ready to come back to my previous schedule yet. The holiday hiatus wasn’t enough to recharge my creative batteries.
My day job’s been draining my creativity, and coming up with new ideas for stories has become harder and harder over time, to the point where posting every day became a chore.
I still enjoy writing these stories, though, so I’m not closing this place down. I just won’t be posting daily for a while. If I come back to a regular schedule at some point, it probably won’t be daily, at least not until I’ve accumulated a backlog of stories that are ready for publication.
I still want to do a community site based around 50-word stories. If you know a good CMS I could install and configure easily to build a community site with minimal hassle, please leave your suggestion in the comments to this post. I’ve been looking into Joomla, but I find it overly complicated for what I want to do, and it makes it too hard for me to mould it into the site I’m trying to build. Maybe I’m just being lazy.
Basically, I aim to build something like ficlets, but with the 50-word concept instead of a character limit, and with the idea that each story be complete (and not just a fragment of a story, like it was with ficlets) while still providing the possibility to write sequels and prequels.
That’s it for now. I hope to post new stories sporadically until I can catch my breath again.
I haven’t posted new stories in 8 days. I know.
I’ve been really busy and tired due to work and holidays-related things, so I’ve decided to go on a short hiatus.
I will be back with regular, daily stories on Monday, January 4th. I hope to be ready with the last few parts that “The Quest” will need in order to be concluded.
This should also help me “refill my inspiration cup”, as that has been running close to empty, lately.
In the meantime, the archives are there, and I’ve gotten very few ratings or comments. Both of these tend to be very good motivation for me, and in the case of comments, could very well trigger my inspiration for further stories.
Thanks for reading, I’ll be back on Jan. 4th!
Apologies for not posting the required “one story a day” yesterday, and being so late today.
I had planned on scheduling two stories for the weekend before leaving on Friday night, but various problems with my laptop made me forget, and once I was gone, I was out of “Internet Range” for the weekend.
See, my parents only have dial-up, and I’ve become so accustomed to broadband that using dial-up feels like torture, like trying to fill a glass of water from a small washcloth you soak in a small puddle and then wring out into the glass: it takes a really long time and too much effort, and leaves you with a bad taste.
In compensation, I will post three (linked) stories in the next few minutes.
The normal posting schedule will resume tomorrow.
I will use this blog to publish my own 50-word stories, until I complete a community site that centers on 50-word stories. I hope to build a thriving community of 50-word story writers, as I’ve met many other writers online who have found the exercise to be fun and rewarding.
